Requirements
Applicants must have a minimum ABET qualification. No experience is required for this post.
Exposure to a gardening environment will be an added advantage. Applicants should have the ability to communicate verbally in English and must have basic knowledge of health and safety requirements.
Candidates must also have physical strength to move materials and equipment. Knowledge of plants, garden equipment and basic gardening skills will be beneficial. The successful candidate must be able to work in a team, prioritise tasks and organise daily work properly.
Duties
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain cleanliness of outside terrains and prepare soil for planting. Duties will include maintaining trees, flowers, shrubs and grass in gardens, removing alien vegetation, planting flowers, trees and shrubs, and watering lawns, landscapes and gardens.
The role also includes monitoring plant health, maintaining sidewalks, parking lots, fountains, fences, planters and benches, removing refuse, practising pest control and assisting with the preparation of grounds for functions and parades.
Candidates may also be required to handle and maintain basic light machinery and tools such as rotary mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, lawnmowers, pole pruners and hand tools. Equipment must be checked for serviceability.
