About the AVBOB Clerk Positions
AVBOB is seeking customer-focused and self-reliant individuals to join its Call Centre team.
Successful candidates will be responsible for assisting clients with policy enquiries, applications, claims, payment queries and various policy maintenance requests.
The role requires applicants who can communicate professionally with customers while accurately handling confidential insurance information.
Candidates should also be comfortable working independently and following AVBOB’s internal compliance and security procedures.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be responsible for duties that include:
- Receiving and handling telephone policy enquiries.
- Assisting clients with general policy information.
- Following up on outstanding requirements for new insurance applications.
- Providing claim enquiry numbers to AVBOB branches.
- Following up on outstanding documentation relating to unpaid claims.
- Referring potential customer leads to the Direct Marketing Department.
- Providing feedback regarding outstanding accounts and refunds.
- Following up on unpaid premiums.
- Assisting with defaulted payments and incorrect deductions.
- Adding qualifying lives to existing policies.
- Adding children to existing child benefits where permitted.
- Removing lives or children from applicable policies.
- Sending duplicate policy documents to clients.

- Recording client consent on the relevant AVBOB system.
- Providing policy information in accordance with internal security procedures.
- Assisting with paid-up policy requests.

Certain policy changes may only be processed once security questions, client consent and relevant accreditation requirements have been satisfied.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- 140 long-term FAIS credits.
- At least 1 to 2 years of experience in the life insurance industry.
- Previous experience in a client service or policy maintenance environment.
- Ability to work independently.

An RE5 qualification will be advantageous.
FAIS Requirements
Because the role involves assisting clients with insurance-related policy information and certain policy changes, relevant FAIS requirements apply.
Call Centre employees performing these functions may be required to be Category B FAIS accredited.
Where an employee has not yet obtained the required accreditation, AVBOB may require the employee to work under the appropriate supervision of an accredited individual in line with compliance requirements.
