Role Overview
As a Waiter, you’ll be the face of Empact’s catering services, ensuring guests enjoy seamless and delightful dining experiences. This role involves taking orders, serving food and drinks, and maintaining a welcoming environment, all while upholding food safety and service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and escort customers to their tables, presenting menus and answering questions about portions, ingredients, or allergens.
- Provide recommendations, inform guests about daily specials, and upsell additional products when appropriate.
- Take accurate food and drink orders using POS systems, order slips, or memorization, and communicate details to kitchen staff.
- Set up tables with linens, silverware, and glassware, ensuring cleanliness and proper presentation.
- Deliver orders promptly, check dish quality, and address any issues with kitchenware or presentation.
- Collect payments, deliver checks, and maintain a tidy dining area by clearing dirty plates and glassware.
- Collaborate with restaurant staff to review specials, menu changes, and service specifications for reservations or events.
- Adhere to health department regulations and food safety standards.
- Provide outstanding customer service to enhance guest satisfaction.

Eligibility Criteria
- Education: Matric certificate (Grade 12, NQF Level 4) is essential.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year as a waiter in a catering environment (essential).
- Experience in a hotel environment is advantageous.
- Butler or housekeeping experience is a plus.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance.
- Proficiency with POS systems and cash registers.
- Basic math skills for handling payments and orders.
- Strong multitasking, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and listening skills, with a patient and attentive demeanor.
- Professional presentation and a team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Citizenship: South African citizen or permanent resident with legal work authorization.
