Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 10 to Grade 12, or an equivalent qualification at NQF Level 3 to 5
  • At least 1 year of experience in food preparation or catering
  • At least 1 year of exposure to a hospital environment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Awareness of Batho Pele principles
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Willingness to work shifts, night duty, weekends, and public holidays

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for supporting daily food service operations at Jubilee District Hospital. Duties will include:

  • Cooking meals according to the approved meal plan
  • Serving and distributing meals to hospital wards
  • Preparing normal and therapeutic diets
  • Preparing food parcels when required
  • Operating food service equipment safely
  • Performing routine food service tasks
  • Lifting heavy buckets and pushing trolleys
  • Applying hygiene, health, and safety measures at all times
  • Following planned work schedules
  • Relieving in different areas of the food service unit when needed
  • Washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
  • Cleaning storerooms, refrigerators, drains, equipment, and kitchen areas
  • Participating in continuous training and development
  • Performing other duties delegated by the supervisor
