Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have a Grade 12 certificate, NQF Level 4 qualification or equivalent. No previous work experience is required.
Knowledge or experience in client services, secretarial work or a related office administration role will be an added advantage. Applicants who have completed an internship in the Public Service will receive preference.
Candidates with prior learning through experience or alternative courses may also apply.

The successful candidate must be able to obtain a confidential security clearance within one year.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide secretarial, receptionist and administrative support to the Director. Key duties include receiving and redirecting telephone calls, managing appointments, updating diaries, typing documents and operating office equipment such as fax machines, scanners and photocopiers.
The role also includes arranging meetings and events, identifying venues, inviting relevant role players, organising refreshments, setting up meeting rooms and recording basic minutes where required.
Additional duties include processing travel and subsistence claims, handling invoices, drafting routine correspondence and reports, maintaining filing systems and supporting document management.
The Secretary / Office Assistant will also administer leave registers, telephone accounts and attendance registers, receive and distribute incoming and outgoing documents, procure standard office items and collect documents needed by the Director for meetings.
The successful candidate will be expected to stay updated on Public Service and departmental policies, procedures and prescripts to ensure efficient support in the Director’s office.
