Job Purpose

The Stock Clerk position at House and Home is a permanent role designed for organized, customer-focused individuals with a National Senior Certificate. Based in stores nationwide, you’ll maintain accurate stock ledgers, manage inventory, and support customer needs in a fast-paced retail environment. With a market-related salary (approximately R5,000–R8,000 per month), this role offers stability and growth in the furniture retail sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming shipments, verifying contents against delivery records and checking for damage.
  • Maintain accurate stock ledgers by recording all stock movements (incoming, outgoing, transfers) promptly.
  • Log Service Department production activities in the Blue Cube system.
  • Ensure full stock availability by monitoring inventory levels and addressing shortages.
  • Conduct daily receiving checks to verify delivery accuracy and maintain stock control.
  • Arrange merchandise on shelves and displays for customer accessibility and visibility.
  • Update inventory records in databases, including stock levels and storage locations.
  • Assist customers with product inquiries and locating items in-store.
  • Participate in scheduled inventory audits to confirm stock accuracy.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, warehouse teams, and colleagues for smooth operations.

Eligibility Criteria

  • South African citizen with a valid ID.
  • National Senior Certificate (Grade 12/Matric).
  • No prior experience required; 1–2 years of retail or furniture experience is advantageous.
  • Basic computer literacy for inventory tracking systems.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills in English (Afrikaans an advantage).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Willingness to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.

Preferences

  • Completion of Admin and Sales Management training.
  • Completion of Trainee Manager training.
  • Diploma in Cost Control or equivalent.
  • 6–12 months of operational knowledge in retail furniture settings.
  • Candidates from designated employment equity groups (Coloureds, Indians, Whites, persons with disabilities).
