Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have one of the following qualifications recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority:
- Grade 10
- ABET Level 3
Relevant working experience is required for this position.
A valid driver’s licence is not compulsory but will be considered an added advantage.

Usher Messenger Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide administrative assistance to judges and support the daily functioning of the courtrooms.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Providing administrative support to judges and courtrooms
- Escorting members of the bench to and from court
- Attending judges’ chambers with legal counsel
- Preparing courtrooms before judges enter
- Maintaining silence and order when judges enter or leave the courtroom
- Organising the court crew and informing members of starting times
- Ensuring that activities are aligned with the daily court roll
- Checking the accuracy of motion court rolls
- Producing copies of court rolls and distributing them to the relevant officials
- Maintaining courtroom records
- Checking and arranging criminal and civil court files
- Ensuring that court files are available before proceedings begin
- Reporting missing files to judges
- Filing and archiving documents and registers
- Supporting the smooth running of courtroom proceedings
- Assisting with the scheduling of opposed motion court matters
- Arranging the representation of cases
- Negotiating courtroom allocation with judges when courtrooms are limited
- Collecting and distributing court files
- Sorting and checking court files
