Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have a Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification at NQF Level 4, as recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
Applicants should also have a three-year National Diploma in a Legal qualification or equivalent qualification at NQF Level 6 with 360 credits, as recognised by SAQA.
No previous work experience is required.
A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful Registrar’s Clerk will provide clerical and administrative support within the court.
Court Administration and Filing
The Registrar’s Clerk will be responsible for registering and allocating case numbers to pleadings and other court documents received.
Other responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that files and documents have been served on the relevant parties
- Preparing files for litigants and attorneys
- Updating files with returns of service or proof of service
- Safekeeping court records
- Disposing of case records according to applicable procedures
- Recording documents received by the court
- Maintaining an organised court filing system
Handling Court File Requests
The successful candidate will retrieve requested files and make them available to authorised requesters.
The Registrar’s Clerk will also:
- Attend to enquiries from litigants, legal representatives and members of the public
- Record requests for court documents and files
- Maintain records of files requested by litigants
- Ensure court files can be tracked and retrieved when required
Case Management Duties
The position also involves providing support with case management.
Responsibilities include:
- Attending to case management matters
- Processing set-down notices
- Implementing case management practices
- Placing request forms in the location of files that have been removed
- Completing file movement sheets
- Monitoring court files and records in accordance with case management procedures
Accurate record keeping is particularly important because court documents and case files must remain properly organised and traceable.
Administrative Support to the Registrar
The successful applicant will also provide administrative support to the Registrar.
Duties include:
- Submitting leave forms to Human Resources for compliance
- Maintaining registers used for filing and archiving
- Complying with telephone procedures
- Following applicable leave policies
- Preparing and signing performance agreements within the required timeframes
Salary
The Registrar’s Clerk position offers a salary of:
R237 453 – R279 708 per annum at Salary Level 05.
