The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety is inviting young South Africans to apply for the Traffic Learner Officer Learnership Programme 2026. This is a great opportunity for applicants who are interested in traffic law enforcement, road safety and serving communities across Limpopo.

A total of 204 learnership opportunities are available. Successful candidates will receive training for a period of 12 months and will be paid a stipend of R70 383 per annum.

About the Traffic Learner Officer Programme

The Traffic Learner Officer Learnership is designed to prepare successful candidates for traffic officer duties. Learners will undergo formal and practical training at the Traffic College, where they will be exposed to traffic law enforcement, road safety, discipline, physical training and other related duties.

Applicants must be ready to participate in strenuous physical exercises as part of the training programme.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 or an equivalent qualification recognised by SAQA
  • Must be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence
  • Must have no criminal record
  • Must not have visible tattoos
  • Must be medically, mentally and physically fit
  • Must be able to undergo traffic officer training
  • Must not have been declared unfit to possess a firearm
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete assessments before final selection. These may include physical fitness tests, practical exercises, integrity checks, security screening, qualification verification and personnel suitability checks.

Candidates may also be required to submit certified copies of their qualifications, ID document, valid driver’s licence and a medical certificate during the interview process.
