About the Ericsson Telecommunication Network Operations Learnership 2026
Ericsson is currently looking for candidates who need theoretical knowledge and practical skills focusing on the Telecommunication Network Operations field. The Ericsson Telecommunication Network Operations team is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join its 12-month learnership programme. This opportunity is designed for young individuals who are eager to gain practical, hands-on experience within a professional telecommunications environment while completing the Telecommunication Network Operations Learnership Programme (SAQA ID 59057, NQF Level 4).

The programme runs for a total duration of 12 months, commencing on 1 June 2026 and concluding on 31 May 2027. Training will be based in the East London area, with additional on-site requirements outside of East London. After approximately 4 to 6 months, learners will be required to travel to various sites within the Eastern Cape region. Applicants are expected to reside in East London, Eastern Cape to meet operational requirements.

  • Install communication equipment such as cables, antennas, microwave dishes, and related devices.
  • Fit pinwheels, structural steel, cable trays, conduits, antenna mounts, antennas, transmission lines, and other supporting equipment on communication towers.
  • Remove, install, and repair aerial telecommunication transmission and distribution antennas, equipment, and associated hardware.
  • Remove, install, and repair various telecommunication cables and lines, including fibre optic, coaxial, and DC power systems.
  • Follow and comply strictly with all safety procedures, rules, and guidelines at all times.
  • Carry out inspections, testing, upgrades, and maintenance activities when required.
  • Perform repair work and emergency restoration of services when necessary.
  • Interpret and follow instructions contained in work orders and technical plans.
  • Support the team leader by assisting with assigned duties as required.
  • Adhere to all occupational health and safety regulations in the workplace.
  • Operate winches and capstans to lift and move loads as required.
  • Maintain strict compliance with established safety practices and guidelines at all times.
  • Follow Ericsson and customer quality standards without deviation.
  • Carry out any additional duties assigned by the team leader.
