About Emalahleni General Security Practises Learnership 2025

Emalahleni Local Municipality, based in Lady Frere, Eastern Cape, offers 100 General Security Practises Learnership positions to empower unemployed residents. Accredited by the Safety and Security SETA (SASSETA), this 12-month programme provides training in security skills, such as patrolling, access control, and incident reporting, to enhance employability in the security sector.

Programme Purpose

The learnership aims to address unemployment in Emalahleni by equipping residents with practical security skills. Targeting unemployed individuals with a Grade 11 qualification, it supports the municipality’s commitment to community development and public safety, preparing participants for careers in security services.

Programme Structure

  • Duration: 12 months.
  • Qualification: General Security Practises (NQF Level 4).
  • Components: Theoretical training and practical workplace experience.
  • Outcome: Nationally recognized NQF Level 4 certificate (SASSETA-accredited).
  • Stipend: R3,000 per month to cover expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

  • South African citizen with a valid ID.
  • Resident of Emalahleni Local Municipality (proof of residence required).
  • Grade 11 certificate or statement of results.

  • Proof of previous UIF registration (for applicants over 40 years).
  • Clear criminal record, verified via background checks.

  • Youth aged 18–35, aligning with national skills development goals.
  • Commitment to completing the full 12-month programme.
