As a Security Guard at Dis-Chem, you’ll be responsible for upholding security standards in line with the Private Security Industry Regulations Act 56 of 2001. Your daily duties will include:

Vigilance and Patrols: Actively monitoring premises, conducting regular patrols, and identifying suspicious activities to deter criminal behavior.
Access Control: Managing and documenting entry and exit points for vehicles and pedestrians, ensuring only authorized individuals gain access.
Incident Response: Investigating and reporting signs of damage or unlawful entry, responding quickly and correctly to crisis situations like emergencies or criminal activities.
Theft Prevention: Being a visible deterrent, conducting searches of staff, suppliers, and merchandisers, and safeguarding company assets from all forms of loss.
Customer Service & Reporting: Maintaining professional and friendly interactions with guests, customers, and employees, while meticulously completing registers and submitting detailed reports on all incidents.
System Monitoring: Operating alarm systems, monitoring CCTV cameras, and assisting emergency teams during crisis situations.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this crucial role, you’ll need:

Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate.
Grade C accreditation with PSIRA (Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority).
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the retail security industry, specifically within shopping malls or warehouses.
Excellent English communication skills (read, write, and speak).
PSIRA knowledge and familiarity with fire emergency and relevant Health and Safety procedures.
A clear criminal and credit record (MIE check will be conducted).
South African citizenship.

Bonus points if you have

At least 1 year of specific previous experience in a similar security role.
Proficiency in a 3rd language.
A valid driver’s license and own reliable transport (with a PDP if deployed as a driver).
