This is an opportunity to work within a large healthcare laundry environment where operators play an important role in ensuring that linen is processed efficiently and safely.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- NQF Level 3, Grade 11 or an equivalent qualification.
- Between 0 and 2 years of laundry worker experience in a hospital laundry, factory or similar environment.
- Basic knowledge of industrial laundry machinery and equipment.
- An understanding of procedures followed in an industrial laundry working environment.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Good interpersonal and human relations skills.
- The ability to plan and organise routine tasks.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- The ability to communicate and liaise with different stakeholders.
Candidates must also be prepared to perform physically demanding duties and work under pressure when required.
Shift Work and Protective Clothing

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for operating and monitoring industrial laundry equipment while ensuring that linen moves efficiently through the washing and drying process.
Key responsibilities include:
- Checking that the correct water level, air pressure and steam supply are available before operating the tunnel machine.
- Cleaning tumble dryers and surrounding work areas.
- Loading and monitoring conveyor belts.
- Loading soiled linen for processing.
- Maintaining and monitoring the loading scale.
- Monitoring clean linen released from dryers.
- Delivering processed linen to the next working point.
- Assisting with the unblocking of the tunnel washer when required.
- Taking responsibility for allocated equipment and other resources.
- Monitoring pumps supplying detergents and liquid soap to the tunnel washer.
- Completing relevant work orders.
- Reporting faults, disturbances or malfunctions affecting the tunnel machine.
Employees will be expected to follow workplace procedures and maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness.
