What You Will Do as a Merchandiser
As a Merchandiser at Checkers, you will be an important part of the team, ensuring everything in the store runs smoothly and looks perfect for customers. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Stock Management: Count, unpack, and organize stock to keep shelves full and products easy to find.
- Visual Merchandising: Create attractive and eye-catching displays that encourage customers to buy.
- Product Care: Make sure all products are clean, well-priced, and free from damage.
- Store Setup: Plan layouts, design signs, and keep displays fresh and exciting.
- Teamwork: Work closely with marketing, sales, and other store teams to meet company goals.
- Customer Support: Help customers with questions, give advice, and handle complaints professionally.
- Store Cleanliness: Keep the store, storeroom, and back areas neat and safe at all times.
- Off-loading Stock: Assist with unloading products from delivery trucks and arranging them correctly.
- Accurate Records: Maintain up-to-date stock records and ensure pricing is always correct.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll stay active, work closely with your team, and make a real difference to how customers experience the store.
What You Need to Qualify
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:
- Matric certificate (Grade 12).
- Previous experience in retail or similar positions, such as Sales Assistant, Retail Assistant, Sales Representative, or Merchandiser.
- Ability to speak and understand English.
- Live within 15 km of the store location.
- Have a clear criminal record.
Additional Requirements
These are important for success in this role:
- Your own smartphone to use for work tasks.
- A Vodacom SIM card (required if your application is successful).
- Willingness to work weekends, late shifts, and flexible hours, including overtime when needed.
- ID document, SARS letter, bank confirmation letter, and your Matric certificate for verification purposes.
