Job Description:

The Category Specialist provides category support on negotiable operational spend to the Category Management team. This role is a shared services role and provides strategic sourcing capability across the GoC – directly supporting the wholly managed business units and indirectly supporting the joint ventures.

To coordinate and integrate the effective management of the supply of strategic Mining Equipment and Commodities/ Mining Services and/or Capital Project Goods and Services, as well as site related services to the De Beers Group of Companies (GoC) in order to ensure maximum benefit and value and operational compliance in line with the organisation’s strategic needs and minimise risk to the business.


Key duties of the Category Specialist include:

  • Extensive Market analysis and to implement an effective sourcing strategy  
  • Contract Management including contractual compliance

Qualifications:

Qualifications and Required Skills

  • A Commercial/Engineering degree
  • 3-5 year relevant supply chain experience. 
  • Experience in savings initiatives 
  • Experience tender development and execution, and Contract Administration and Management is essential 
  • Utilization of a formal methodology/process for sourcing activity is an advantage. 
  • Experience in the leadership and management of people is required. 
  • It is advantageous to have experience in a range of different commodities and services 

Specific experience in extractive metallurgical plant equipment and services will be advantageous

Job Description:

As Principal Health & Hygiene you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Consult and lead on health and occupational hygiene matters related to the BU’s operations.
  • Collaborate with line management to establish and maintain an integrated Health and Occupational Hygiene management system that follows the Total Health Strategy and focal areas.
  • Review Kumba Health policies regularly and recommend changes to ensure that Kumba keeps pace with internationally accepted best practices.
  • Provide expert guidance on Health and occupational hygiene matters to the Operating Units.
  • Maintain the Anglo American and Kumba Health standards and related documentation and ensure these are appropriately implemented throughout Kumba.
  • Advise on designing and implementing appropriate and relevant Health management systems at the Operating Units.
  • Ensure that Occupational Hygiene and Occupational Medicine are adequately resourced throughout the Operating Units and that these disciplines are appropriately integrated into Occupational Health management systems.
  • Guide occupational health risk management, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and control, emphasising long-term risk management in coordination with the manager: Safety and Risk.
  • Manage regular employee monitoring and medical surveillance procedures to prevent, identify and treat illness proactively.
  • Produce Occupational exposure histories and link Occupational Hygiene measurements to medical surveillance records via the system mandated by the BU or region.
  • Maintain a set of leading and lagging Occupational Health key performance indicators relevant to the Kumba Occupational Health risks and monitor the performance at the Operating Unit.
  • Drive and oversee the development of employee Health and Wellness programmes, including prevention, screening, diagnosis and management of chronic medical conditions and the HIV & TB programs.
  • Drive the Mental Health & Financial wellbeing strategies for Kumba
  • Drive and oversee the Fatigue Management program
  • Recognise and evaluate those conditions within the operating units and the corporate office that may arise in or from the workplace and may cause illness or adverse health effects to persons.
  • Design, coordinate, and manage high-level occupational hygiene programmes based on risk assessments and monitoring findings.
  • Manage budget & cost control, i.e. organise section’s expenditure to ensure adequate cost controls/savings.
  • Conduct effective people management, including optimising human resources, maximising output delivery by section, and ensuring work ethics that allow workers to strive to improve their performance.

Job Description:

As a Millwright you will be responsible to:

  • Obtain daily and weekly work instructions from Shift Leader/Electrical Foreman 
  • Prepare and plan work priority list and resource requirements in order to complete tasks
  • Ensure that all resources requirements are communicated to Shift Leader/Electrical foreman  in order to complete allocated work orders 
  • Inform the Shift Supervisor when work is being conducted in the area of responsibility
  • Co-ordinate maintenance activities with the Shift Leader, to ensure that the operation is not effected or alternative plans need to be prepared
  • Show the appropriate Team Leader how certain low level maintenance and preventative steps can be undertaken by the operational team within process
  • Communicate any stumbling blocks to the appropriate Shift Leader/Electrical Foreman so that plans can be made
  • Ensure the safe and proper running of all machinery and equipment are conducted
  • Ensure that any operational problem that is encountered is reported even if outside immediate area of responsibility
  • Ensure that all planned maintenance schedules are accurately complied with 
  • Ensure that all work conducted is performed to the required standards and specifications
  • Ensure that all safety and legal requirements are carefully followed

The role is in the Engineering Department at a Band 8 (C2) level, reporting to the Electrical Foreman
 

Qualifications:

  • Trade Certificate for Millwright (essential)
  • Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science
  • Medium Voltage Certificate (advantageous)

Job Description:

The Product Support Technician is responsible for providing process, electronic, and mechanical expertise required in various aspects of Technology Support’s Business.

Technology Support is a department within DBT (de beers Technology)-SA which provides specialized technical support to both internal and external client’s. The key purpose of this role is to provide technical support at various phases of the business.

Your role will:

  • Read, interpret, and assemble trade specific items according to design diagrams and drawings, 
  • Agility to adapt to changing  schedules and priorities, 
  • Optimize diamond efficiency and recovery across all unit processes deployed across the various mining operations.
  • Perform quarterly inspections, site optomisation and callouts across the deployed fleet of diamond recovery unit processes.
  • Support internal testing of Sale of Spares, Stores items and Completed unit processes as part of factory acceptance testing as well as site acceptance testing.
  • Propose design improvements and best practices in both the mechanical and electrical assembly methods and processes, for a more efficient manufacturing and support process, 
  • Contribute towards improvements in assembly procedures and safe work procedures, 
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures, 
  • Ensure adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and legal requirements.
  • Travel to various global operations with the intent of providing support and assurance.

Qualifications:

Formal qualifications:

  • Recognised Technician Qualification (S4 / N6, BTech or equivalent).
  • Five years or more relevant industrial experience in the arena of Electrical or electronics engineering.
  • Computer literate in the Microsoft suite of packages,  
  • Effective communication skills in English (written and verbal), 
  • Experience with respect to, repairs, maintenance, and fault diagnostics of automation systems.
  • PLC and Software integration experience
  • Remote diagnostic experience. Machine intelligence.

Additional requirements:

  • A valid code driver’s license will be advantageous.
