Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- ABET Level 4, Grade 9, Standard 7, NQF Level 1, or equivalent qualification.
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must be able to provide documentary proof of citizenship on the day of the interview.
- Must be proficient in English and at least one other official South African language.
- Must be able to read and write.
- Must have basic literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
- Must be able to interact professionally with other officials.
- Must be willing to work extended hours when required.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
The successful applicant should have:
- Basic understanding of garden maintenance duties.
- Knowledge of how to handle cleaning detergents safely.
- Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety procedures.
- Ability to operate elementary machines and equipment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to perform physical outdoor work.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Garden Worker will be responsible for maintaining the neatness and appearance of the SAPS unit grounds.
Key duties include:
- Cultivating garden areas.
- Preparing soil for planting.
- Maintaining flower beds and other garden beds.
- Fertilising, irrigating, weeding, and pruning plants.
- Mowing lawns and cutting edges.
- Loading and unloading equipment needed on the grounds.
- Irrigating lawns.
- Removing refuse from the premises.
- Loading refuse onto trucks for disposal.
- Keeping unit areas clean, neat, and well maintained.
