
Uplands College, an Anglican co-educational independent school in White River, Mpumalanga, is inviting applications for the Uplands College isiZulu Internship 2026. - Curriculum: Independent Examination Board (IEB)
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with isiZulu teaching in the College phases (Grades 8–12)
- Support lesson planning, class assessments, marking, and remedial work
- Co-coach or assist coaching in at least one sport or extracurricular activity
- Engage in boarding house supervision and pastoral care
- Participate in academic, cultural, sporting, and community events
- Collaborate with fellow staff, tutors, and housemasters/housemistresses
- Take guidance from senior educators and grow in your teaching craft
Candidate Requirements
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Academic status
- You should be in your 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of study or enrolled in a BEd, PGCE, or other relevant qualification at a South African university.
- You must provide proof of your year-end examination results.
- Teaching & school experience
- Ability to assist in class and engage with the IEB curriculum is critical.
- Prior experience (or interest) working with ISASA schools and IEB standards is a distinct advantage.
- Experience in boarding schools is beneficial but not strictly required.
- Collaboration & flexibility
- You must be able to work collaboratively with staff, pupils and management to achieve goals.
- Be willing to contribute across academics, sports, culture, and boarding life.
- Other essential criteria
- South African citizen
- Present a clear Criminal Clearance Certificate
- Be committed to living in a boarding environment and being involved in full-day programming
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn, adaptability, and good interpersonal skills
