TB/HIV CARE IS HIRING A DATA CAPTURER

Job Advert Summary     

TB HIV Care (THC), in existence since 1929, is an internationally recognised non-profit organisation. We provide health care services throughout South Africa to both the general population and communities at increased risk for HIV and TB, including adolescent girls and young women, sex workers and people who use drugs. The Data Capturer will assist with transportation of teams for client contact tracing in communities. In addition to driving, the successful candidate will offer general administration duties, data capturing, assist with event logistics, vehicle maintenance, observing all road safety and traffic laws.

Minimum Requirements             

  • Grade 12
  • Tertiary qualification would be advantageous
  • Two (2) years’ experience in data collection, capturing, updating and/or maintaining electronic databases
  • Two (2) years’ experience in data capturing and reporting
  • Two years’ experience as a driver
  • Experience in Microsoft Packages
  • Valid South African code 10 driver’s license plus Professional Driver Permit (PDP)
  • Knowledge of capturing data in any health M&E systems (TIER.net. and/or DHIS) will be advantageous
  • Experience in working with outreach teams & providing health education Other requirements
  • Experience in working with key populations, particularly PWUD beneficial.
  • Previous work in the TB environment will be an advantage.
  • Be compliant with all local driving laws and regulations.
  • Basic TB, HIV and adherence

Duties and Responsibilities       

  • Ensure that teams and vehicles are safe during community outreach activities (adhere to all road safety and traffic laws).
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections, roadworthy inspections and maintains the vehicle and escalate problems to management.
  • Take vehicles for service or repairs as required.
  • Maintain daily transportation log and ensure petrol slips are submitted timeously.
  • Compile with organizational policies regarding vehicles.
  • Ensure that emergency numbers are listed in the vehicles.
  • Assist with event logistics and delivery of commodities.
  • Provide support and reassurance to patients who may be unwell or have barriers to understanding the DCXR screening process
  • Ensure clients sign the consent forms
  • Record accurate patient information.
  • Collect and verify data against source documents to ensure data quality.
  • Ensure that basic reports (weekly, monthly and ad-hoc reports) are submitted on time.
  • Attend trainings as required.
  • Cascade all trainings down as appropriate within the organisation.
  • Facilitate trainings when appropriate and needed.
  • Follow up and trace all clients who need be started on TB treatment and ensure they are started on treatment.
  • Tracking and tracing of the LTFU patients and ensure linkage back into care.
  • Link with outreach team on tracing of contacts of all TB index cases from the Digital Chest X Ray mobile clinic.
  • Participate in learning and development opportunities (trainings, workshops, information sessions etc.)
  • Set up and prepare for daily activities.
  • Attend meetings, briefings, debriefing, staff meetings and other as directed to do so on a regular basis.
  • Additional responsibilities delegated by managers from time to time.
  • Represent the organisation with pride and ensure you adhere to the ethos and principles.

  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective data management skills. Strong and consistent patient file documentation and report-writing skills.

  • Community TB & HIV screening and testing services; tracing and linkage will be an advantage
