About the Steinmuller Boilermaker/Welding Apprenticeship 2026
Steinmüller Africa, together with Bilfinger Intervalve Africa, is offering an Apprenticeship opportunity for candidates interested in Boilermaking or Welding. This programme is designed to equip learners with both practical workplace exposure and theoretical technical training required to become qualified artisans.
The company prioritises community development within its operating areas and gives preference to applicants living close to Kriel Power Station in Mpumalanga.
Location: Bethal, Mpumalanga
Contract Duration: 36 Months
Employment Equity Status: Open to EE Candidates Only
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in a structured apprenticeship programme for a minimum of 36 months
- Complete all prescribed merSETA practical and theoretical modules
- Gain relevant workplace experience required for trade test qualification
- Assist production or site teams whenever operational support is required
- Carry out tasks and assignments issued by mentors or training officers
- Successfully pass the applicable trade test before programme completion
- Work toward obtaining an NQF Level 4 qualification as a qualified artisan in Boilermaking or Welding.
Apprenticeship Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 with Mathematics (Mathematics Literacy will not be accepted)
- Physical Science and/or N2 qualification
- N2 subjects relevant to the trade such as Mathematics, Engineering Science, Platers Theory, and Platers Drawings will be advantageous
- Must be physically and medically fit
- Clear criminal record required
- Applicants must be 35 years old or younger
- Must reside within a 50 km radius of Kriel Power Station, Mpumalanga
- Proof of residence is compulsory
- Willing to relocate to Bethal or nearby areas at own cost if not already residing locally
- No transport or accommodation will be provided.
