About the Safripol EH&S Experiential Learnership 2026
Safripol is searching for applicants who require theoretical knowledge and practical skills focusing on teh EH&S field with an experiential learnership. The Safripol EH&S Experiential Learnership provides support to the Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) team across the company’s plants and operational departments. The learner helps promote awareness of workplace safety, environmental protection, and health regulations. The role also involves helping employees understand their EH&S responsibilities and follow company programmes, policies, and safety procedures.

Through this programme, learners gain practical experience in a working industrial environment while applying the knowledge gained from their studies. They also develop technical skills and professional abilities needed to work in environmental health and safety. The experience helps prepare them for future career opportunities, including progression towards an EH&S Technologist role.

You will be required to perform the duties below:

• Support the site’s Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) programme by monitoring activities, gathering and analysing data, and preparing reports
• Help maintain communication between the production plants, support departments, and EH&S Delivery Leaders while learning to operate the site’s EH&S systems
• Take part in Safety and Loss Prevention checks, site projects, and other EH&S inspections under the guidance of a supervisor
• Assist with organising and carrying out Environmental, Health and Safety testing activities
• Participate in investigating EH&S incidents across the site and help prepare investigation records. Follow up on recommended actions to prevent similar incidents from happening again
• Help monitor the progress of preventive and corrective measures to ensure that identified issues are addressed
• Complete rotations through the PP plant, HDPE plant, and site support departments according to the approved learning plan. Maintain a logbook or portfolio of evidence and obtain approval from the assigned mentor
• Help identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments, and update the site’s Hazard and Aspects Register.

The Safripol EH&S Experiential Learnership Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

• Hold a National Diploma in Safety Management and a Grade 12 certificate or equivalent, with Mathematics and Science as compulsory subjects
• Complete training in Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)
• Obtain training in incident investigation
• Register with SACPCMP, as this will be an added advantage
• Demonstrate computer skills, particularly in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Familiarise yourself with the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Act, ISO systems and standards, and other legal compliance requirements, as basic knowledge will be beneficial.
• No previous work experience is required
• Meet the medical fitness requirements for working in a chemical processing environment by passing the pre-placement medical examination
• Hold a valid driver’s licence.
