Job Description

The District Aide/Attendant position involves hands-on maintenance tasks essential for the efficient functioning of Rand Water’s pipeline infrastructure. The role includes patrolling pipeline networks, ensuring proper upkeep of facilities, and participating in general cleaning duties. Additionally, the role requires a basic understanding of safety measures, teamwork, and the ability to handle manual tasks effectively.

• Minimum Educational Qualification: Grade 12
• Experience: At least 1 year in a similar environment
• Skills: Ability to perform maintenance on pipelines, effective communication skills, and ability to ride a bicycle for patrol duties

Role Responsibilities

• Pipeline, Valve, and Meter Maintenance – Assisting in the repair and maintenance of pipelines, valves, and water meters
• Pipeline Patrols – Conducting routine patrols along pipelines using a bicycle to monitor and report issues
• Standby Duties – Being available for emergency response and urgent maintenance work
• Facility Upkeep – Maintaining the grounds, including general landscaping and area cleanliness
• Building and Office Cleaning – Ensuring that workspaces and operational areas remain clean and organized

• Technical Skills – Basic knowledge of pipeline maintenance and repair techniques
• Safety Awareness – Understanding of general safety and proper handling of tools and equipment
