This means you will be working outdoors on construction sites, not in an office.
What You Will Be Responsible For
As a Supervisor/Foreman, your main role is to lead teams and make sure work is done properly, safely, and on time.
Team Supervision
- Lead paving teams on-site
- Give clear daily instructions to workers
- Make sure everyone understands their tasks
Paving Operations
- Supervise asphalt paving work
- Ensure correct levels, thickness, and compaction
- Control machines like pavers and rollers
Planning and Preparation
- Make sure materials, tools, and equipment are ready
- Check that safety measures are in place before work starts
- Follow daily work plans
Monitoring Work Progress
- Track daily production targets
- Identify delays or problems
- Report issues to senior supervisors
Quality Control
- Check that work meets required standards
- Monitor asphalt temperature during delivery and laying
- Identify and report defects or mistakes
Equipment and Materials
- Ensure tools and machines are used properly
- Monitor material usage to avoid waste
- Report shortages or damaged materials
Reporting and Communication
- Keep daily records of work done
- Report progress, risks, and challenges
- Work closely with the Foreman or Site Agent
Minimum Requirements

Education
- ABET Level 4 / Grade 9 or equivalent
- Supervisory training (NQF Level 3 or 4) is an advantage
Experience
- 2 to 4 years of experience as a Supervisor in construction or roadworks
- Experience managing teams on-site
- Practical knowledge of paving and asphalt work
