What is the YES Programme?
The Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme is a business-driven initiative in collaboration with the government to tackle youth unemployment. It aims to equip young people with valuable skills and practical work experience, significantly enhancing their prospects of securing long-term employment.
Who Can Apply for the Nedbank YES Programme?
South African youth who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:
- Aged between 18 and 29 years.
- Hold a Matric qualification.
- Currently unemployed.
- Identified as African, Coloured, or Indian citizens born in South Africa, in accordance with the BBBEE Act definition of “black people”.
- Have not previously participated in a YES Programme with any other organization.
Duration and Start Date
Participants will be employed for 12 months to gain high-quality work experience.
The programme is set to commence on 1 June 2025.
Please note that the YES Programme is not a learnership, internship, or apprenticeship.
Monthly Stipend
Successful applicants will receive a monthly stipend as per the YES Programme guidelines. This stipend serves as financial support for living, food, and travel-related expenses.
Work Experience Location
The work experience will take place at various Nedbank sites, branches, and offices throughout the country. Depending on the specific role and division, some positions may follow a hybrid or remote work model. Working hours may vary based on the job requirements and could include weekdays, weekends, and public holidays. Therefore, participants must be able to commute to and from the workplace.
