Key Responsibilities:
As a Security Officer at the OCJ, you will be entrusted with ensuring the safety and security of the Constitutional Court. Your duties will include:
- Access Control: Enforcing the Public Access Control Act by managing and regulating entry to the court.
- Crowd Control: Overseeing and managing crowds within the court premises to maintain order.
- Search and Safety: Conducting searches for harmful objects, such as firearms, that could pose a threat to the court.
- Escort Duties: Safely escorting visitors to their designated offices within the court.
- Risk Assessment: Assisting the Chief Security Officer in conducting risk assessments and monitoring outsourced security positions.
- Equipment and Asset Management: Ensuring that court equipment and furnishings are not removed without authorization and that all items entering or leaving the premises are documented.
- Control Room Operations: Monitoring security cameras, responding to alarms, and maintaining communication with internal and external parties.
- Occupational Health and Safety (OHS): Conducting evacuation drills, checking emergency signage, and maintaining first aid boxes.
Essential Requirements:
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Abet qualification.
- Preferred Qualifications: Matric certificate, Grade C Security Certificate (PSIRA), and a valid driver’s license.
- Experience: At least one year of experience in the security industry.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with security standards such as MISS (Minimum Information Security Standard) and MPSS (Minimum Physical Security Standard), as well as knowledge of the Criminal Procedure Act, National Key Point Act, and other relevant legislation.

- Basic Computer Literacy: Proficiency in MS Office.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to address and resolve security-related issues efficiently.
