Position Purpose
The Shop Assistant/Cashier role at Clicks Lion Pride Shopping Centre in Roodepoort is a permanent position designed to deliver superior customer service, efficient point of sale (POS) operations, and high merchandising standards. Employees will engage customers, promote Clicks’ clubcard, and maintain store presentation, contributing to a positive shopping experience. Key Responsibilities
- Execute point of sale operations, including scanning merchandise and processing payments accurately.
- Promote and enroll customers in Clicks’ clubcard to meet participation targets.
- Inform customers about promotions to drive sales and enhance value perception.
- Deliver exceptional customer service as a brand ambassador, ensuring a friendly and professional experience.
- Maintain merchandising standards through stock replenishment and visual displays.
- Ensure safe handling of cash and adherence to POS procedures.
- Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and organized store.
- Stay updated on products, ranges, promotions, and events to provide accurate information.

Eligibility Criteria
- South African citizen with a valid ID, aged 18–35 (preferred).
- Grade 12 certificate (Matric or National Senior Certificate).
- Clear criminal record, verified through background checks.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Basic numeracy skills for handling cash and POS transactions.
Preferences
- 50% or higher in Maths and English at Grade 12 level.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing retail or FMCG role (e.g., cashier, sales assistant).
- Candidates from designated Employment Equity groups (Coloureds, Indians, Whites, persons with disabilities).
- Proficiency in a second language (e.g., Afrikaans, isiZulu).
- Strong customer orientation and merchandising skills.
