The Driver Messenger is also responsible for ensuring that assigned vehicles remain safe, reliable, and in good working condition. This includes checking fuel levels, engine oil, water, tyre pressure, and other basic vehicle requirements, as well as maintaining the tachograph and ensuring that relevant records are properly completed. Any mechanical faults, damage, or maintenance requirements are reported to the appropriate supervisor without delay.

General Responsibilities as Driver Messenger
- Drive municipal vehicles safely and responsibly when performing assigned duties.
Transport documents, parcels, equipment, and other items to designated locations. - Deliver official correspondence and materials to various departments, offices, and external destinations.
- Collect documents, parcels, and other items as instructed.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, and trips undertaken.
- Inspect the vehicle regularly and report any defects, damage, or maintenance requirements.
- Ensure that the vehicle remains clean, secure, and in good operating condition.
- Comply with traffic laws, municipal policies, and road-safety requirements.
- Assist with loading and unloading documents, parcels, and other materials.
- Obtain signatures or other proof of delivery when required.
- Report accidents, incidents, delays, or other problems to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling official documents and sensitive information.
- Plan routes efficiently to ensure timely delivery and collection of items.
