Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have Grade 10 to Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification at NQF Level 3 to 5.

Gardening or farming experience will be an added advantage. Candidates should also have knowledge of farming activities, gardening tools, chemicals, and equipment used for maintaining outdoor areas.

Applicants must also meet the following requirements:

  • Physically strong and able to perform demanding duties
  • Reliable, punctual, and honest
  • At least 1 year exposure in a hospital environment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Awareness of Batho Pele principles
  • Able to work in a team and under pressure

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for general property care and maintenance around Jubilee District Hospital.

Key duties include:

  • Digging, weeding, and removing dead wood from garden areas
  • Mowing lawns using lawnmowers
  • Trimming grass and plants using trimming machines
  • Applying fertilisers and watering gardens
  • Removing litter from the premises
  • Emptying refuse containers
  • Washing and disinfecting garbage storage areas
  • Assisting with moving and delivering equipment and furniture
  • Sweeping and washing roads and paved areas
  • Carrying out pest control duties on the premises and inside hospital facilities
  • Following instructions issued by supervisors or responsible officers
  • Checking machinery and equipment and reporting service needs

This role requires someone who is hands-on, hardworking, and committed to keeping the hospital environment clean and safe for patients, staff, and visitors.
