Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 10, Grade 11, or Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent qualification
  • Gardening or farming experience will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of farming methods and the use of garden equipment and tools
  • Ability to operate a tractor will be advantageous
  • Good physical strength and endurance to perform demanding outdoor work
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and honest

Preference may be given to EPWP trainees and administrative interns who have previously served or are currently serving in the Department in line with Personnel Circular Letter 4 of 2017.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining gardens and outdoor areas at the facility. Duties include:

  • Planting flowers, trees, and shrubs and ensuring they receive proper care
  • Mowing lawns, trimming hedges, and removing weeds
  • Installing and maintaining irrigation systems
  • Identifying and managing pests and plant diseases safely
  • Designing and maintaining landscapes to improve the appearance of outdoor spaces
  • Operating and maintaining gardening equipment and machinery
  • Following workplace health and safety procedures
  • Cleaning premises, removing litter, and emptying refuse bins
  • Washing and disinfecting garbage storage areas
  • Assisting with the movement and delivery of equipment and furniture
  • Sweeping and washing roads and paved areas
  • Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the HR department and asked to submit certified copies of qualifications and supporting documents (not older than 6 months) before the interview.
