The CoJ (City of Johannesburg) is offering an Expanded Public Works Programme to South African individuals who are interested in this particular line of career. The CoJ (City of Johannesburg) EPWP (Expanded Public Works Programme) is a grand opportunity for unemployed young folks who wish to provide assistance with various services in the health facilities department. Selected participants will be tasked with duties such as general work, queue marshaling, and other administrative tasks. Participants will also be tasked in regions A, B, C, D, E, F, and G from Ward 1 to 135. Throughout the programme, participants will be entitled to a monthly stipend of up to R7 000 pm (all-inclusive, stipend).
Programme Key Performances
1. Cashier/Cloakroom Attendant
- Verify that all patrons pay the correct entrance fees before accessing the swimming pool facilities, while also assisting with monitoring, service delivery, and general cleanliness of the area
- Perform various cashier and cloakroom responsibilities, including (but not limited to) collecting entrance fees and accurately recording transactions using a cash register
- Manage access to the pool by ensuring individuals with infectious or contagious illnesses, as well as those under the influence of alcohol, are not allowed entry
- Issue and manage swimming pool season tickets
- Support the maintenance and cleanliness of the ticket office, changing rooms, and cloakroom areas.
2. Seasonal Lifeguard
- Perform rescue operations and carry out relevant administrative tasks
- Provide First Aid assistance when necessary
- Coordinate activities and procedures related to public service monitoring and maintain the overall condition of the facility
- Oversee the cleanliness of the premises, manage the operation of filtration systems, conduct water chemical testing, ensure bather safety, and regulate patron behavior
- Support the Superintendent by handling responsibilities during their absence
- Ensure adherence to Swimming Pool By-Laws and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Assist swim instructors in delivering lessons to beginner swimmers.
3. Data Capturing

- Carry out a range of cleaning duties within the Opportunity Centre
