The COFCO Process Technician Learnership is a structured development programme that offers Learner Technicians valuable technical training and practical workplace experience.

Participants are responsible for monitoring and controlling plant processes to ensure operations remain within established parameters while adhering to the Standerton Oil Mills Integrated Management System. Throughout the programme, Learner Technicians gain exposure to key engineering competencies essential for success in the manufacturing sector.

You will be required to perform the duties below:

  • Gain a thorough understanding of workplace health, safety, and operational procedures.
  • Support process optimisation initiatives and rotate across different plant sections when operationally required.
  • Gather process information and develop trend analyses, reports, and dashboards to support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Assist in identifying, analysing, and resolving process-related issues and equipment faults.
  • Monitor and regulate plant equipment, utilities, and resource consumption within assigned levels of authority.
  • Perform sampling activities as required to evaluate performance and identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Collect both routine and non-routine field data and assist in diagnosing conditions that may affect plant performance.
  • Complete all prescribed training programmes to strengthen technical knowledge and professional competencies.
  • Participate in scheduled assessments to evaluate learning progress and competency development.
  • Deliver periodic presentations to senior personnel to demonstrate progress and ensure alignment with programme objectives.
  • Engage actively in practical, hands-on field activities to develop operational experience.
  • Carry out additional duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time in support of operational requirements.
  • Develop knowledge of energy management practices and their application within plant operations.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications and systems
  • Showcase experience working with Siemens PCS7 SCADA systems, which will be considered beneficial
  • Maintain focus and concentration for extended periods while performing repetitive tasks
  • Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Manage time effectively to meet operational requirements and deadlines
  • Learn new concepts quickly and apply analytical thinking to solve problems
