Job Purpose
The General Worker will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, assisting in container yard operations, and supporting day-to-day functions within the yard and wash bay areas.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- At least 2 years of general working experience in a warehouse or container yard environment
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures
- Physically fit and able to operate cleaning equipment
Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean the container yard, wash bay, and building exterior using cleaning equipment
- Conduct daily inspections of stacked containers to ensure safety and stability
- Perform basic maintenance of the yard, including sweeping and organizing materials
- Maintain equipment such as the ride-on sweeper and ensure proper storage
- Follow safety guidelines and complete necessary documentation and checklists
- Support yard operations with occasional manual tasks when required
Skills and Competencies
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
- Team player with a positive attitude
- Basic mechanical or cleaning equipment knowledge is advantageous
Work Environment
