Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered:
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent
- No prior work experience required
- Relevant experience will be an added advantage
- Knowledge of library and information science principles
- Understanding of library prescripts, legislation, procedures, and processes
- Familiarity with library services
- Experience in a legal or law library will be advantageous
- A three-year National Diploma or Degree in Library Science, Information Science, or an equivalent qualification will be an added advantage

Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Librarian will support the Librarian in the day-to-day operations of the library, including:
- Assisting with all library operations and services
- Classifying and cataloguing library materials
- Tracking and managing library collections
- Assisting with annotations and updating of legislation
- Circulation of legislation, journals, and Government Gazettes
- Verifying orders and filing library materials
- Reviewing library collections to identify duplicate, obsolete, or suspended materials
- Maintaining library registers and records
- Conducting annual stock taking
- Performing general library administrative duties as required
Assessment Process
All shortlisted candidates will be required to undertake two pre-entry assessments, which include:
- A practical exercise
- An integrity (ethical conduct) assessment
These assessments will determine the candidate’s suitability based on both technical and generic job requirements.
