Accredited Apprenticeship Opportunity: CBMT (Competency Based Modular Training)

Lindsay Saker VW Midrand is offering a valuable opportunity for suitable candidates to join an Accredited CBMT Apprenticeship. This program combines practical on-the-job training (OJT) with theoretical, classroom-based education provided by the Motus Technical Training Academy (MTTA), under the guidance of a qualified motor vehicle mechanic.

Role Responsibilities

The role of the Apprentice Motor Mechanic Training Level 1 involves the following duties to be fulfilled:

  • Enter into a CBMT contract with merSETA and a learnership contract with Lindsay Saker VW Midrand, adhering to all terms and conditions.
  • Earn minimum wages as per MIBCO standards for CBMT Apprentices.

Training Program

  • Four-year contract (Levels 1 – 4).
  • Five days of training at MTTA every five weeks.
  • Distance learning through the CDX program, providing interactive demonstrations, tutorials, and practical exercises.
  • Computer-based testing and examinations.
  • Practical competency assessments.
  • On-the-job experience at Lindsay Saker VW Midrand’s Service Department, aligned with the competency level achieved.
  • Compile a portfolio of evidence as per ITTA requirements.
  • Work alongside an assigned technician to learn quality service maintenance and repairs according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles under supervision.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants will be required to meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this role:

  • Matric with Mathematics and Physical Science (or N2 with Mathematics, Engineering Science, and English, achieving a minimum of 50%).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Successful completion of a mechanical insight test.
  • Standard background checks and medical assessment to ensure fitness for work.
  • Successful candidates will undergo a psychometric assessment and a face-to-face interview.
