The Free State Department of Health is inviting unemployed graduates and TVET College students to apply for its 2026 Internship and Work Integrated Learning Programme.
A total of 128 opportunities are available across hospitals, district offices, the Medical Depot, Corporate Office and other Department of Health facilities throughout the Free State.
The programme includes 99 Graduate Internship positions running for 24 months and 29 TVET Work Integrated Learning opportunities running for 18 months.
Successful graduate interns will receive a stipend of R98 087 per annum, while TVET Work Integrated Learning participants will receive R83 103 per annum.

Graduate Internship Requirements
Applicants for the Graduate Internship Programme must:
- Be South African citizens.
- Have completed Grade 12.
- Have an appropriate undergraduate tertiary qualification relevant to the field being applied for.
- Have an NQF Level 6 National Diploma or an NQF Level 7 or 8 degree.
- Not have previously completed a 24-month internship programme.
Historically disadvantaged applicants will receive preference.
Dental Assistant applicants must additionally be registered with the HPCSA.

Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens.
- Have completed Grade 12.
- Have an N6 Certificate and academic record.
- Require workplace experience related to their TVET qualification.
- Not have previously completed an 18-month Work Integrated Learning programme.
Historically disadvantaged applicants will receive preference.
TVET WIL Duties
Successful learners will carry out basic duties assigned by their mentor according to their field of study.
Participants will also complete duties linked to their learner guide, workbook or logbook and will be required to attend the funded Personal Mastery Course for Work Integrated Learning participants.
