Salary
The successful candidate will receive an annual salary of between R144 024 and R169 656, according to Salary Level 02.
The advertised amount is an all-inclusive annual remuneration package applicable to the position.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have one of the following qualifications:
- ABET Level 4; or
- Grade 10.
A National Senior Certificate, commonly known as Matric, will be an added advantage but is not listed as a compulsory requirement.
No previous work experience is required. However, applicants who have been exposed to a logistics, stores, warehouse or stock-control environment may have an advantage.
Candidates must also be willing to work after normal working hours when required.

Duties and Responsibilities
The General Assistant will support the department’s logistics and stores operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving, checking, recording, storing and issuing goods.
Receiving goods and services
The successful candidate will:
- Assist with the receipt of goods and services.
- Receive deliveries from suppliers.
- Check goods and invoices received from suppliers.
- Reconcile delivered goods against approved requisition forms.
- Sign for goods after confirming that the delivery is correct.
- Record all goods received.
- Ensure that received items are placed in the correct and secure storage area.
Storage and inventory control
The General Assistant will also help maintain accurate stock records by:
- Placing goods in the correct bin allocation.
- Updating bin cards and inventory records.
- Keeping stock organised and stored safely.
- Assisting with stocktaking activities.
- Controlling and recording available stock.
- Helping prevent stock losses, damage or incorrect allocation.
Issuing and distributing goods
Additional responsibilities will include:
- Liaising with end users regarding the collection of received goods.
- Issuing stock and stores items to the relevant employees or units.
- Ensuring that end users sign the appropriate goods receipt vouchers.
- Recording the distribution of goods.
- Maintaining accurate records of items issued from the stores.
Processing invoices and payment documents
The successful candidate will assist with the processing and submission of payment documentation by:
- Comparing invoices with purchase orders and goods received.
- Checking that invoice information is correct.
- Confirming that invoices contain the required stamps, signatures and banking details.
- Capturing submissions on the relevant system.
- Recording outgoing submissions.
- Forwarding completed documents to the payments section.
