Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have one of the following qualifications:
- Grade 12 certificate
- National Senior Certificate
- An equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
One year of Public Service experience in patient administration will be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will provide patient administration and records-management support in line with Department of Health policies and hospital procedures.
Their responsibilities will include:
- Capturing patient information accurately on electronic and manual systems
- Checking personal details, supporting documents and patient classifications
- Retrieving and filing patient records
- Updating patient information regularly
- Maintaining accurate patient administration records
- Collecting patient fees and performing cashier duties
- Completing relevant patient administration forms
- Responding to telephone enquiries
- Rotating between different patient administration clerk functions
- Handling patient valuables and belongings according to hospital procedures
- Managing face-value books properly
- Following requirements from internal and external stakeholders
- Protecting confidential patient information
When the SAP or Hospital Information System is unavailable, clerks will be required to record patient information manually using the appropriate registers and forms.
The information must then be captured electronically as soon as the system becomes available.
