The Shop Assistant position is a permanent opportunity based in Free State, South Africa, within the VKB Commercial Services Division of VKB Agriculture. VKB Agriculture is seeking a motivated and customer-oriented Shop Assistant to join its team in the Free State region. The successful candidate will contribute to the efficient operation of the depot by assisting customers, handling stock movements, maintaining merchandising standards, and supporting daily operational activities.

The role requires an individual who can work effectively in a team environment while ensuring that stock is managed accurately and that customers receive professional service. The Shop Assistant will also play a key role in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workplace.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to customers by offering product information and helping with the loading of purchased goods
• Receive incoming stock and ensure products are stored, moved, and packed correctly
• Replenish shelves and displays to maintain attractive and accurate product presentation
• Support general depot operations and contribute to the smooth flow of daily activities
• Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards throughout the depot and work areas
• Ensure stock is handled safely and according to company procedures
• Promote a safe working environment by following workplace health and safety guidelines
• Demonstrate professionalism while upholding the company’s values and service standards
• Collaborate with colleagues to achieve operational and customer service objectives.

Job Requirements
Applicants should meet the following minimum requirements:

• Grade 12 qualification or NQF Level 4 certificate
• Previous experience in a retail store, depot, or similar environment will be advantageous
• Ability to work weekends and public holidays according to operational schedules
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform tasks accurately
• Customer-service-oriented mindset
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Dependable, responsible, and willing to contribute positively to workplace operations
• Physically fit and capable of performing manual labor when required
• Knowledge of Johnson’s clothing products will be beneficial
• Clear criminal record
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of productivity and service delivery.
