Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- ABET Level 3, Grade 9, or an equivalent qualification
- Ability to read and write
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Understanding of infection control
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Willingness to rotate in different wards or units
Exposure to a public health sector hospital environment will be an added advantage. Cleaning experience will also be an advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to perform cleaning and hygiene-related duties within the hospital. Key duties include:
- Mopping and scrubbing floors using cleaning machinery
- Washing windows and walls according to the work schedule
- Performing high dusting
- Dusting tables and damp-wiping door handles
- Cleaning and replenishing bathrooms
- Cleaning foot stools, bedside lockers, and drip stands
- Emptying dirt bins
- Wiping spillages on floors
- Reporting faulty equipment
- Collecting food trolleys from the main kitchen
- Serving beverages when required
- Ensuring a clean and hygienic environment in the hospital
- Performing other duties delegated by the supervisor
This role is important because cleaners help support infection prevention and ensure that patients, staff, and visitors are in a safe and clean environment.
