About the V&A Waterfront Mechanical Apprenticeship 2026
V&A Waterfront is on the search for applicants who would like practical work exposure focusing on the Mechanical department with their apprenticeship programme. The V&A Waterfront Mechanical Apprenticeship role involves supporting the execution of both planned and reactive maintenance on a range of mechanical assets and equipment, including HVAC systems, bridges, pump stations, control panels, lifts, escalators, and building management systems.
The apprentice is responsible for carrying out maintenance-related tasks while working closely with the Mechanical Supervisor and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that all issues, concerns, and queries are addressed promptly and professionally. A strong emphasis is placed on maintaining effective communication and delivering high-quality customer service. In collaboration with the Mechanical Supervisor, the apprentice also assists in monitoring and coordinating external service providers and suppliers to ensure that work is completed to the required standards. Additionally, the role may involve providing support for ad hoc tasks and special projects as needed.
You will be required to perform the duties below:
- Execute planned and preventative maintenance programmes within the Mechanical department.
- Oversee and manage the resolution of all service call-outs.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders regarding mechanical breakdowns, issues, or complaints.
- Supervise and manage the maintenance and replacement of mechanical assets, including HVAC systems, bridges, pump stations, control panels, lifts, and escalators.
- Monitor all mechanical equipment through the Building Management System (BMS).
- Conduct and oversee fault-finding activities on mechanical plants, such as air-conditioning plant rooms, seawater systems, district cooling systems, pump stations, bridges, lifts, and escalators.
- Inform and collaborate with relevant business units regarding planned maintenance to ensure effective communication with tenants.
- Manage external service providers and suppliers by obtaining competitive quotations and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with reliable service providers and suppliers.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with tenants to ensure consistent and excellent customer service.
- Report regularly on maintenance progress and keep tenants informed at all times.
