About the Motus Apprenticeship
Motus is seeking for keen applicants who would like to obtain practical workplace experience in a professional setting with the automobile establishment. The Motus Apprenticeship offers an opportunity for a Level 1 Apprentice providing an excellent path for individuals eager to undergo training and earn qualifications as a Motor Mechanic.
Candidates selected for this role will actively engage in all facets of the Apprenticeship programme, including assisting in vehicle repairs under the guidance of a qualified Technician. They will fulfill the MerSETA trade requirements, master level tests, and aim to qualify within a maximum period of 3 years. This apprenticeship is designed to equip participants with comprehensive skills and knowledge essential for a successful career in motor mechanics.
You will also be required to fulfill the duties below:
- Perform fault diagnosis to support and speed up vehicle servicing
- Use diagnostic equipment correctly during vehicle inspections
- Follow DCSA procedures and policies during repairs and ensure printouts are retained
- Ensure faults are accurately diagnosed to meet customer satisfaction
- Consult with Service Advisors when necessary and provide clear explanations
- Cooperate in maintaining vehicle care and safety when handling vehicles
- Minimize comeback cases to the lowest possible level
- Respond to breakdown calls whenever required
- Return vehicles to customers after service in a clean and neat condition
- Sign for all parts collected from the parts department and use them on the correct vehicle
- Return any unused parts to the parts department
- Ensure diagnosis results in the most cost-effective and accurate solution to faults or customer complaints
- Provide advice and apply techniques that maintain quality while saving time
- Deliver a fault-finding and systems diagnostic service on motor vehicles to support and speed up mechanical work
- Complete all required company service forms and documentation
- Prepare and draft any necessary reports
- Contribute suggestions and advice for promotional campaigns and participate when required
- Maintain clean and tidy overalls and work areas at all times
- Complete job cards in full and submit them to the service advisor promptly after repairs, ensuring correct clocking procedures
- Attend training courses provided by Daimler and Cargo Motors
- Assist with other reasonable duties as required.

- Present a valid driver’s license as an added advantage
