Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have the following requirements:
A Grade 10, Grade 11, Grade 12 or equivalent qualification is required. Knowledge of laundry services, linen services and sewing will be an added advantage.
Candidates must have good communication skills and be willing to work as part of a team. Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles will also be beneficial.
Applicants must be physically fit, as the job requires manual work. Candidates must also be willing to rotate within the scope of work and be prepared to work weekends and public holidays when required.
Previous EPWP experience will be an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for collecting dirty linen bags from different sections of the hospital and delivering soiled linen to the sorting area.
Other duties include tying and labelling dirty linen bags, operating rinsing machines, sorting and packing linen in the linen bank, and loading and offloading clean linen from laundry trucks.
Laundry Workers will also be expected to mend torn linen, assist with linen inventory counting, clean linen trolleys, and support other linen section duties when requested by supervisors.
The role also requires candidates to follow Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards as well as Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) principles and practices.
Successful applicants must be willing to attend training, participate in development programmes, attend approved meetings, and comply with the Performance Management and Development System.
