About the Department of Health Cleaners Posts

The Cleaners will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in different areas of Pholosong Regional Hospital. Successful candidates will help ensure that the hospital environment remains safe, clean and suitable for patients, staff and visitors.

The role requires applicants who can perform routine cleaning tasks, work under pressure and follow infection prevention and occupational health and safety standards.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have the following:

  • Grade 10, Grade 11, Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification
  • No experience required
  • Good communication skills

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to perform the following duties:

  • Clean interior and exterior hospital areas
  • Clean bathrooms, showers, offices, wards, passages and waiting areas
  • Dust, wash, scrub and polish floors, walls, windows, stairs and fire escapes
  • Clean medical equipment and fridges
  • Clean all spillages according to hospital procedures
  • Empty bins and remove waste, including medical waste
  • Follow health care waste management policies
  • Apply Occupational Health and Safety principles
  • Follow Infection Prevention and Control practices
  • Rotate within the scope of work when required
  • Assist with laundry duties when needed
  • Serve meals and clean utensils
  • Perform any other duties delegated by the supervisor
