About the Motus Apprenticeship
Motus is seeking for keen applicants who would like to obtain practical workplace experience in a professional setting with the automobile establishment. The Motus Apprenticeship offers an opportunity for a Level 1 Apprentice providing an excellent path for individuals eager to undergo training and earn qualifications as a Motor Mechanic.

Candidates selected for this role will actively engage in all facets of the Apprenticeship programme, including assisting in vehicle repairs under the guidance of a qualified Technician. They will fulfill the MerSETA trade requirements, master level tests, and aim to qualify within a maximum period of 3 years. This apprenticeship is designed to equip participants with comprehensive skills and knowledge essential for a successful career in motor mechanics.

You will also be required to fulfill the duties below:

  • Support technicians by carrying out basic vehicle repair tasks as instructed
  • Detach and install vehicle parts or components as needed
  • Lift vehicles safely and set them on trestles
  • Apply lubrication and replace oils (under supervision) following manual guidelines
  • Take off and reinstall wheels
  • Swap out air and oil filters
  • Contribute to all vehicle repair operations
  • Replace and secure batteries
  • Clean components and uphold workshop cleanliness
  • Participate in required technical and level-based training courses
  • Carry out any reasonable additional duties assigned
  • Maintain overall workshop tidiness
  • Ensure tools and equipment remain clean and functional
  • Keep overalls and workstations neat and orderly
  • Comply with all safety regulations.

1. Basic Qualifications

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Complete Grade 10 with Pure Mathematics or Technical Mathematics, along with Physical Science
  • Obtain an N2 qualification or higher, including Motor Theory
  • Achieve an NCV Level 4 qualification with a pass in Pure Mathematics
  • Hold an N2 qualification with Diesel Theory as a subject when applying for diesel apprenticeships
  • Possess a valid driver’s license or demonstrate a willingness to obtain one.
