Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this Department of Health Driver vacancy, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 10 or an equivalent qualification
- A valid Code 10 (C1) driver’s licence
- A valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP)
- 3–5 years of driving experience will be an added advantage
- Good communication skills and the ability to interact with people at all levels
- Strong customer service and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Ability to work under pressure
- Must be willing to work shifts, including night shifts and public holidays
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will perform various transport and logistics duties within the hospital. These include:
- Transporting patients (P2, P3, and Mental Health patients) safely using hospital vehicles
- Transporting staff, medication, and official hospital documents or mail
- Maintaining professional conduct when dealing with patients, staff, and colleagues
- Communicating effectively with the dispatch office regarding schedules and instructions
- Conducting daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Ensuring vehicle cleanliness and proper maintenance
- Accurately completing log sheets and trip records
- Operating devices such as GPS systems, two-way radios, and cell phones when required
- Reporting any accidents immediately
- Safeguarding the fuel card, vehicle keys, vehicle tag, logbook, and other equipment
- Following all instructions issued by the transport officer
