Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this Department of Health Driver vacancy, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Grade 10 or an equivalent qualification
A valid Code 10 (C1) driver’s licence
A valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP)
3–5 years of driving experience will be an added advantage
Good communication skills and the ability to interact with people at all levels
Strong customer service and teamwork skills
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Ability to work under pressure
Must be willing to work shifts, including night shifts and public holidays

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform various transport and logistics duties within the hospital. These include:

Transporting patients (P2, P3, and Mental Health patients) safely using hospital vehicles
Transporting staff, medication, and official hospital documents or mail
Maintaining professional conduct when dealing with patients, staff, and colleagues
Communicating effectively with the dispatch office regarding schedules and instructions
Conducting daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
Ensuring vehicle cleanliness and proper maintenance
Accurately completing log sheets and trip records
Operating devices such as GPS systems, two-way radios, and cell phones when required
Reporting any accidents immediately
Safeguarding the fuel card, vehicle keys, vehicle tag, logbook, and other equipment
Following all instructions issued by the transport officer
