Role Purpose

The Data Scientist will derive business value from data by sourcing, analysing, modelling, and interpreting large datasets. The role focuses on advanced analytics, statistical analysis, predictive modelling, and machine learning, with the ability to translate complex insights into meaningful outcomes for both technical and business stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

Data Science & Analytics

  • Source and integrate data from multiple internal and external suppliers
  • Perform advanced statistical analysis and predictive modelling
  • Apply machine learning principles where appropriate
  • Ensure data integrity, validation, and version control

Programming & Data Engineering

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines and database structures
  • Work with Python, SQL, R, JavaScript, and related technologies
  • Load, model, and analyse structured and unstructured data
  • Work with cloud and web infrastructure (Azure beneficial)

Business Intelligence & Visualisation

  • Create insights using BI tools such as Power BI
  • Conduct geospatial analysis where required
  • Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences

Business & Insurance Analysis

  • Analyse insurance processes and operational environments
  • Translate business requirements into data-driven solutions
  • Interpret insurance and reinsurance data in context

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with developers, actuaries, and business stakeholders
  • Present strategic insights and results to internal teams and clients

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Actuarial Science
  • Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and R
  • Additional languages such as C#, .NET, C++, Visual Basic (advantageous)

Experience

  • 3–5 years experience in data science, data warehousing, or modelling
