About the Essity Job as Fitter 2026
Essity is searching for candidates who would like an employment opportunity as a qualified Fitter who is aware of safety measures and know how to troubleshoot machines. The Fitter position at Essity is responsible for carrying out maintenance activities across the site to ensure smooth and efficient operations. This role requires the individual to maintain machinery in line with preventive and predictive maintenance principles, ensuring that equipment remains reliable and performs at optimal levels. The Fitter is also tasked with diagnosing and resolving technical issues, employing the Daily Directional Setting method to systematically identify and address problems.

The successful candidate will take full ownership of their designated work area, ensuring that all machines are maintained to Basic Standards Condition and that all relevant technical documentation is accurate and readily accessible. They will work safely and effectively with specialized maintenance tools, including Maintenance Connection preventive maintenance systems, OEM technical manuals, and standard operating procedures.

You will be required to perform the duties below:

• Install, inspect, maintain, and repair a variety of machines and equipment across the site
• Verify that all serviced, installed, or commissioned plant and equipment meet specifications before being handed over to production
• Document all maintenance and repair activities on a job card for accurate record-keeping
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults on malfunctioning machines, resolving issues promptly to minimize production downtime
• Conduct root cause analyses of equipment failures and provide recommendations to improve plant reliability, efficiency, and productivity
• Perform routine preventive maintenance inspections, repairs, and upkeep of equipment both independently and as part of a team, submitting PM reports and job cards upon completion
• Collaborate closely with production and quality teams to address operational challenges and enhance processes
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment at all times
• Follow and enforce all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and required risk assessments
• Support site and building maintenance tasks, as well as other duties assigned by the departmental manager
• Be available to respond to stand-by duties as needed

General Responsibilities as Fitter

• Assemble, install, and maintain machinery, equipment, and mechanical systems
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to perform tasks accurately
• Use hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments for fitting, assembly, and repairs
• Inspect machinery and equipment for wear, damage, or malfunctions, and perform routine maintenance

• Dismantle, repair, and reassemble equipment as required, following safety and operational procedures
• Monitor and maintain stock levels of spare parts, tools, and consumables
• Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times
• Collaborate with other maintenance and production staff to ensure smooth operations
• Keep accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and equipment performance
