What You’ll Be Doing Every Day
As a Junior Fire Fighter at Fidelity ADT, your job will be full of purpose and variety. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Responding quickly to fire, rescue, and emergency situations under supervision.
- Assisting in incidents that involve hazardous materials.
- Helping rescue trapped individuals and giving basic first aid or medical support when needed.
- Operating firefighting equipment to control and extinguish fires.
- Taking part in fire prevention programs and awareness training.
- Preparing for emergencies through regular training drills and physical fitness sessions.
- Teaching fellow employees about fire safety practices and prevention methods.
- Carrying out safety inspections to ensure a secure workplace.
- Maintaining and checking fire trucks, hoses, and equipment to make sure everything works properly.
- Keeping accurate records of incidents and activities.
- Participating in departmental Health and Safety meetings.
- Driving heavy vehicles and operating machinery during emergencies to assist in rescue operations.
This role is not just about reacting to fires — it’s about being proactive, prepared, and ready to respond in any situation where safety is at risk.
What You’ll Need to Qualify
To apply for the Junior Fire Fighter position, you need to meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) as your basic school qualification.
- IFSAC-accredited training and NFPA 1001 Firefighter II certification.
- Between 2 to 3 years of firefighting experience.
- A valid Code C1 driver’s license with PrDP (Professional Driving Permit).
- Be medically and physically fit for intense physical activities.
- Strong knowledge of fire prevention systems and procedures.
- Understanding of fire chemistry and fire classification.
- Clear criminal record.
- Experience with hazardous material (Hazmat) operations.
- EMT and First Aid certification (Levels 1–3).
It’s also a plus if you have advanced driving experience and solid communication skills. Since teamwork is essential in firefighting, being able to work well under pressure and follow directions quickly is very important.
