About the Role
The Food & Beverage Waiter position plays a key role in delivering outstanding service to guests across the hotel’s restaurant, room service, and event areas. You’ll be the face of The Capital Hotels when interacting with guests — ensuring that every dining experience is smooth, friendly, and professional. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a lively environment and have a passion for hospitality.
As a waiter, your duties will focus on two main areas: front of house service and stock management. You’ll need to provide prompt, efficient service while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring that guests’ needs are met with warmth and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Your daily tasks will include:
- Serving food and beverages promptly and courteously in all assigned areas, including the restaurant, room service, and functions.
- Providing a welcoming and efficient guest experience, ensuring satisfaction at all times.
- Maintaining cleanliness and order in the dining and service areas.
- Managing and restocking inventory as required.
- Assisting with setting up tables and ensuring that all serving areas meet the hotel’s presentation standards.
- Handling guest inquiries or complaints professionally and escalating issues where necessary.
- Supporting team members and supervisors to ensure smooth service flow during busy periods.
You’ll need to display professionalism, good communication, and a strong sense of teamwork to succeed in this position.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:
- Matric certificate (Grade 12)
- Previous restaurant or hotel experience is essential
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently when needed
- High level of honesty, reliability, and integrity
- Well-presented, articulate, and customer-focused
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
