Minimum Requirements
Applicants must hold a qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Staff Nurse/Enrolled Nurse, with valid 2025/2026 registration.
- Grade 1: No experience required after registration for South African qualified employees who have completed Community Service.
- Grade 2: At least 10 years of appropriate/recognisable experience after SANC registration as a Staff Nurse/Enrolled Nurse.
- Grade 3: At least 20 years of appropriate/recognisable experience after SANC registration as a Staff Nurse/Enrolled Nurse.
Skills and Competencies
The role requires both technical and interpersonal abilities. Candidates should demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of nursing care processes, statutes, and relevant legal frameworks such as the Nursing Act, Health Act, and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Familiarity with the Patient Rights Charter, Batho Pele principles, Public Service Regulations, and workplace grievance procedures.
- Competencies in planning, organising, time management, and problem solving.
- Effective communication, coordination, collaboration, and facilitation skills.
- Computer literacy, numeracy, and report writing ability.
Key Duties
Staff Nurses at Bongani Hospital will be expected to:
- Maintain patient hygiene, nutrition, and mobility.
- Facilitate elimination processes and monitor vital signs.
- Operate relevant medical apparatus and equipment.
- Assist professional nurses with clinical procedures, including administering intramuscular injections.
