This structured training programme blends real-world in-store experience with formal learning modules. Participants will complete assessments and logbooks during their time on the shop floor and ultimately work toward a nationally recognised retail qualification.
What to Expect During the Programme
Learners will be cross-trained across key store functions to ensure a well-rounded experience. Training areas include:
Sales and Customer Engagement
Engage with customers, assist with fashion choices, and deliver excellent service.
Visual Merchandising
Apply the Merchandise Business Plan (MBP) to maintain the store’s visual appeal and brand consistency.
Point-of-Sale (POS) Transactions
Operate POS systems, manage transactions, and handle payment processes efficiently.
New Account Applications
Help customers open Truworths accounts and understand the financial services available.
Stock Control
Keep track of inventory, assist with stock level management, and support loss prevention.
Store Safety and Loss Prevention
Follow safety protocols to protect customers, staff, and merchandise.
Relationship Building
Foster lasting customer relationships through positive and professional interactions.
Learners must complete a minimum of 120 hours of practical in-store training and successfully pass assessments to demonstrate their skills and knowledge.
Minimum Requirements
To be eligible for this learnership, applicants must:
- Have a minimum of Grade 10
- Be unemployed at the time of application
- Have a strong interest in retail and fashion
- Be confident, with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Be committed to learning and personal growth
- Be reliable, punctual, and flexible to work retail hours
